Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 28: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has started local manufacturing of the Defender 110 at its Pune facility, making India the first market outside Europe to produce the luxury SUV. The locally manufactured model will be available in the X-Dynamic HSE trim, with prices starting at Rs 99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Bookings are open, and deliveries are scheduled to begin on November 15, 2026. JLR expects local production to reduce waiting periods and improve accessibility for Indian customers.
The Defender 110 comes with three engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 3.0-litre petrol and a 3.0-litre diesel. All variants feature an eight-speed automatic transmission and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. The 2.0-litre petrol version costs Rs 99 lakh, while both 3.0-litre variants are priced at Rs 1.18 crore.
The locally manufactured SUV also includes features previously offered as optional extras on imported versions. The 2.0-litre petrol variant receives equipment worth up to Rs 6.5 lakh, including Electronic Air Suspension with Adaptive Dynamics, Terrain Response 2, Wade Sensing, three-zone climate control and electrically adjustable front seats with heating and cooling.
The 3.0-litre petrol and diesel variants gain additional standard equipment worth up to Rs 17 lakh. Features include an Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring by Braking, a Meridian Surround Sound System, a head-up display, climate-controlled rear seats and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Built on JLR’s D7x architecture, the Defender 110 retains its off-road capabilities and offers seating for up to seven occupants, depending on configuration.
JLR began manufacturing vehicles in India through a partnership with Tata Motors in 2011. Its Chakan facility has produced 10 JLR models for the domestic market.
Production for international markets will continue at JLR’s Nitra plant in Slovakia, which will also manufacture the Defender 90, Defender 130 and Defender OCTA.
