Industry Odisha Buureau, Oct 01: Central government-run Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), taking a significant step towards strengthening access to affordable and quality healthcare, has inaugurated an AMRIT Pharmacy at Regional Hospital, Talcher in Angul district.
Biranchi Das, director (Human Resources), MCL, inaugurated the pharmacy in the presence of AK Singh, General Manager, Jagannath Area; Jagabandhu Behera, General Manager, Welfare; Anil Kumar, HOD-MS, MCL, other dignitaries, senior officials and members of the medical team.
The AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment)- a flagship initiative of the Government of India under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare aims to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses by providing essential medicines, life-saving drugs, implants, and surgical items at highly affordable prices, often at discounts ranging from 50% to 90% of market rates, officials said.
The establishment of the AMRIT Pharmacy at Regional Hospital, Talcher will help ease the financial burden on patients while facilitating greater access to quality healthcare, the official said.
The initiative is expected to provide greater affordability and accessibility of essential medicines and healthcare products to patients and their families, further strengthening the healthcare services available at the hospital, they said.
With this initiative, MCL reinforces its continued focus on strengthening affordable healthcare services and ensuring accessible and quality medical care, with the well-being of its employees, their families and stakeholders.
