BMW India has launched its new 7 Series range. The line-up offers both petrol and electric powertrains. It includes the 740 M Sport, i7 eDrive50 and i7 M70. Prices start at ₹1.95 crore. Deliveries begin in October 2026.
BMW 7 Series Prices In India
The BMW 740 M Sport costs ₹1.95 crore ex-showroom. The BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport matches that price exactly. The BMW i7 M70 xDrive tops the range at ₹2.65 crore. This creates notable price parity between petrol and electric flagship models. Customers pay the same starting price regardless of powertrain choice.
BMW i7 Gets 728km Range
The i7 eDrive50 carries a claimed range of 728km. It supports DC charging at up to 250 kW. BMW says 10% to 80% charging takes around 28 minutes. The company claims 235km of range in just 10 minutes. A full charge via 22 kW AC takes roughly six hours.
BMW i7 M70 Brings 680hp
The i7 M70 xDrive is the range’s performance flagship. Two electric motors combine for 680 hp. System torque reaches 1,015 Nm in Sport mode. Launch Control or Sport Boost pushes torque to 1,100 Nm. Unlike the eDrive50, the M70 arrives as a CBU import.
BMW i7 Production Moves To Chennai
BMW will locally manufacture the new i7 at its Chennai plant. India becomes the only country besides Germany producing the i7 locally. This marks a significant step in BMW’s Indian manufacturing footprint. The i7 M70 xDrive remains an exception, imported fully built. Local production applies specifically to the i7 eDrive50 variant.
BMW Retains Petrol-Electric Choice
BMW is not moving its flagship range exclusively electric. The 740 M Sport preserves a combustion-engine option. The i7 eDrive50 and M70 offer electric alternatives. BMW Group India president Hardeep Singh Brar called this its “Power of Choice” philosophy. Design elements include the Iconic Glow Kidney Grille and Individual Crystal Headlights across variants.
