Industry Odisha Bureau, Aug 31: With an aim to meet the future power demand, the Odisha government has lined up several power infrastructure projects worth Rs 16,000 crore, officials said.
The State is strengthening its power infrastructure with a planned investment of Rs 16,000 crore to support rapid industrial growth and build a reliable, resilient and future-ready energy network, Energy Department officials said.
According to the officials, 590 industrial projects are expected to be commissioned by the end of financial year 2030–31. A 765 kV Grid Ring System is being developed, with 3 new 765/400 kV substations planned at Kolabira, Duburi and Betakholi.
Besides, four new 400 kV substations are under construction, with 9 more planned in the coming years. With 788.99 circuit km of transmission lines added over the past two years, Odisha is building a stronger power backbone to drive sustainable growth and investment, they said.
Energy, Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev recently chaired the 18th Single Window Committee (SWC) meeting under Odisha Renewable Energy Policy (OREP)-2022, during which several projects were approved.
Officials from the Energy Department, Water Resources Department, Revenue & DM Department, GRIDCO,
OPTCL, Electricity Distribution Companies, OHPC, and EIC (Electricity) participated in the meeting.
The Government’s proactive policies and streamlined processes through the Single Window Committee of the Energy Department and its nodal agency GRIDCO continue to attract investments in the renewable energy sector, paving the way for a sustainable and self-reliant Odisha.
