Industry Odisha Bureau, May 21: The mortal remains of Odia youth A Ramaya, who died in Moscow, Russia, were brought back to Odisha on Thursday with the support of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Government of Odisha.
A native of Madhabandha village in Ganjam district, A. Ramaya had been working in a company in Russia. He reportedly lost his life in a drone attack on May 17 amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
The 25-year-old, son of A Limaya of Madhabandha village, lost his life during a massive and coordinated drone strike by Ukraine in Russia amid the escalating tensions and ongoing conflict in the region.
Following the incident, his family appealed to the Government for the repatriation of his mortal remains.
Following the request, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Office of the Principal Resident Commissioner of the Government of Odisha in New Delhi, the Directorate of Odisha Paribar under the Department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture and the Ganjam district administration jointly facilitated the return of the mortal remains to Odisha.
After the mortal remains arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, Officer on Special Duty of the Directorate of Odisha Paribar, Pritish Panda, supervised the arrangements for transporting the body to the deceased’s native village in Ganjam district.
Rameya had gone to Russia in March reportedly through a private firm Micon Agency operating at Haripur chowk under Golanthara police limits. In April, he joined a company there along with seven other Odia persons.
The news of Rameya’s death has left his family devastated and cast a gloom over Madhabandha village.
