Industry Odisha Bureau, April 2: With the successful launch of NASA’s historic Artemis II reportedly from the Kennedy Space Center in the state of Florida at 6.35 pm yesterday (April 1), the United States of America (USA) has reportedly ventured into its long-cherished crewed moon mission after an interval of over five decades.
As per media reports, NASA has created history as its first crewed moon mission, while the four-member crew comprises three NASA astronauts reportedly named as Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, and astronaut Jeremy Hansen who hails from the Canadian Space Agency.
Media reports also revealed that the crew members in this mission stand for several historic firsts as the mission includes the first ever Canadian astronaut, the first ever woman astronaut, and also the first ever African-American astronaut.
Notably, NASA’s this Artemis space programme is a follow-up expedition of the Apollo missions that reportedly despatched nearly 24 astronauts to our Earth’s natural satellite called Moon between 1968 and 1972 in the last century.
It is also reported that NASA has a plan to “set up a sustained human presence on the Moon and eventually send astronaouts to Mars.”
