Industry Odisha Bureau, March 26: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has successfully executed long-term Fuel Supply Agreements (FSAs) with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited for supply of coal for four thermal power stations.
Central PSU MCL will supply 5.0 Million Tonnes per annum (MTPA) of coal to NTPC’s Dadri, Farakka, Unchahar, and Nabinagar Thermal Power Stations, officials said.
The coal linkage under these agreements will play a crucial role in ensuring reliable and uninterrupted fuel supply to key thermal power stations, enabling reliable power generation and strengthening the nation’s energy security, they said.
The agreements were signed in the presence of S K Jha, Director (Technical – OP & PP), MCL, at the company headquarters, by A K Lakra, General Manager (M&S), MCL; Diwakar Kaushik, Regional Executive Director (NR), NTPC; and Vijay Goel, Regional Executive Director (ER-I), NTPC.
This development marks a significant milestone in strengthening long-term fuel supply arrangements and further deepens the strategic partnership between MCL and NTPC, contributing to the nation’s energy security, they said.
Few days ago, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC) signed a memorandum of understanding with NTPC to explore options for coal supply to power generation projects. The agreement will see the two state-run entities undertake joint technical and commercial assessments to evaluate coal availability, logistics and supply frameworks.
The memorandum aims to identify sustainable supply chains that can support NTPC’s generation portfolio while leveraging GMDC’s mineral resources. The move reflects broader efforts to secure fuel sources for reliable power output.
