Industry Odisha, Sep 1: India’s commercial LPG prices were hiked by roughly ₹10 per cylinder on September 1, 2026. The increase applies to the 19-kg commercial cylinder used widely by restaurants and hotels. Domestic LPG prices for households remained completely unchanged during this latest revision. The hike reverses part of two consecutive months of price reductions nationwide. It also comes amid renewed supply uncertainty linked to escalating tensions across West Asia.
In Delhi, the 19-kg commercial cylinder now costs ₹2,747.5, up nearly ₹10. Mumbai recorded a smaller increase of ₹9.5, taking prices to ₹2,701 per cylinder. Kolkata saw the steepest rise among major cities, climbing ₹11.5 to ₹2,884. Chennai prices increased by ₹10.5, reaching ₹2,916.5 per cylinder for commercial users.
This latest movement follows two earlier reductions that lowered commercial cylinder costs substantially. Across those two tranches, prices had fallen by approximately ₹380 per cylinder. That decline had itself followed a sharper escalation of roughly ₹1,345 across four increases during the earlier West Asia crisis peak. Tuesday’s hike therefore represents a modest correction rather than a full reversal.
Free-trade LPG, primarily serving migrant populations, also saw a price adjustment this week. The 5-kg cylinder increased by approximately ₹2, reaching ₹764 per cylinder overall. This translates to roughly a 0.26 percent increase from previous pricing levels. Demand for free-trade LPG has risen as new bottled-gas connections remain paused amid ongoing supply-chain uncertainty.
Separately, aviation turbine fuel prices for domestic airlines increased by ₹6.28 per litre. The revised ATF price now stands at ₹121.28 per litre nationally. Aviation fuel remains a major operating cost for India’s commercial airline industry. Higher ATF prices could add incremental pressure to already thin airline margins.
Commercial LPG remains an essential operating input for hospitality and food-service businesses. Restaurants, caterers and institutional kitchens will absorb these costs incrementally rather than face sudden strain. The increase reflects changing energy-market conditions rather than a dramatic structural shift. Indian markets continue functioning steadily despite external supply-side pressures from West Asia.
Looking ahead, strengthening LPG and aviation-fuel supply chains will remain a priority. Diversifying energy sourcing could help cushion future price volatility from geopolitical disruptions. India’s broader energy-security framework continues balancing commercial demand against global supply uncertainty. Reliable fuel access remains central to sustaining business and aviation activity nationwide.
