Industry Odisha Bureau, Jun 15: As scheduled earlier, commercial operations commenced today at the Noida International Airport (NIA) as the inaugural flight reportedly ‘IndiGo 6E-2278’, that had taken off from Lucknow-based Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA), landed at NIA at 7:55 AM, while ‘IndiGo 6E-2279’ has reportedly been scheduled for returning to CCSIA, Lucknow at 6.55 pm with arrival at 8.00 pm tonight.
Located in Jewar of Gauttam Buddha Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh (UP), NIA was reportedly inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28 this year, while commercial flight operations were reportedly scheduled to commence from today.
As per media reports, “The first cargo flight has been scheduled to take off from the NIA two days after, i.e. on June 17, while the cargo service would operate on a domestic route.”
Media reports also said: “Besides Indigo, Akasa Air would be the the second airline to operate from the NIA with its daily flights to Bengaluru and Navi Mumbai from tomorrow.”
Reportedly, the NIA has a “3,900-metre runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft, advanced instrument landing system (ILS) and modern airfield lighting facility”, while this new airport has been developed by “Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with multi-layered security inclusive of AI-based surveiilance, deployment of 1,030 CISF personnel, and a dedicated airport police station under the UP Police Department.”
