Industry Odisha Bureau, April 2: In his televised address to the nation last night (April 1 at US local time), US President Donald Trump categorically told all the nations (completely dependent on oil imports through the world’s most critical chokepoint of Strait of Hormuz) that they must either build up courage to protect Hormuz themselves from the clutches of Iran or buy the required oil from the USA as it is self-sufficient.
Blaming Iran for the chaotic situation and the soaring oil prices globally, Trump thundered, “It’s entirely the result of the Iranian regime launching deranged terror attacks against commercial oil tankers and neighbouring countries that have nothing to do with the conflict,” media reports quoted the incumbent US President.
Making it crystal clear that the USA would no more “bear the burden of securing maritime routes alone”, Trump gave a clarion call to all those countries (completely dependent on oil imports and shipments through the Strait of Hormuz): “They must take care of that passage…they must grab it and cherish it,” media reports added.
Being blunt in his offer, Trump reportedly told the totally oil-reliant nations, “Buy oil from the United States of America”, and claimed, ““America has plenty of gas. We have so much gas, more oil and gas than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined.”
Trump also reportedly averred, “We’re now totally independent of the Middle East… we don’t need their oil, the US imports almost no oil through the Strait of Hormuz.”
