Industry Odisha Bureau, July 9: Pop star Justin Bieber has joined the start-studded lineup for the first ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show. FIFA officially announced the same on Wednesday. Bieber will be performing alongside global stars Madonna, Shakira, and BTS during the 11-minute show on July 19.
The performance will take place during the FIFA World Cup final outside New York. The same is being curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay. The event will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. Notably, the event aims to raise $100 million to improve children’s access to education and football.
In a statement, Justin Bieber said that he was excited to be a part of the historic FIFA event. He also expressed his happiness that it would also help expand educational opportunities for children around the world.
The FIFA final halftime show will also feature Afrobeats star Burna Boy, renewed Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus, a children’s choir from NYC. Coldplay will join the choir during the performance. Burna Boy’s inclusion is especially significant because of his collaboration with Shakira on “Dai Dai”; one of the official songs of 2026 FIFA World Cup. The multilingual track blends Afrobeats with Latin music and celebrates football’s global appeal by referencing several participating nations.
Talking about his performance, Burna Boy said that representing Africa at the first ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show is both an honor and a responsibility.
Unlike the Super Bowl, halftime performances are uncommon in football. Major tournaments like the UEFA Champions League final typically feature entertainment during the kickoff rather than during the match. This year’s show will also include appearances by character from Sesame Street, including Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, a family friendly element to the historic event.
