Industry Odisha Bureau, Jun 20: Amid the hullabaloo and prevailing tense atmosphere over the reported paper leak allegations during the original exam on May 3 this year, the authorities reportedly conducted a nationwide mockdrill today just before the NEET-UG-2026 re-examination slated tomorrow.
Besides, security has reportedly been tightened at the New Delhi-based National Testing Agency (NTA) office since it has been in the eye of the storm and the protestors are baying for its scalp and vehemently demanding to scrap the agency as well as pressing for the resignation of the incumbent Union Education Minister on moral grounds.
Reportedly, the NEET-UG-2026 re-examination has been scheduled to be conducted tomorrow (June 21) from “2 pm to 5.15 pm in the pen-and-paper mode across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad for over 22.79 lakh candidates.”
Authorities reportedly stated that the nationwide mockdrill, that started at 9 am, and was claimed to continue till late evening today, was aimed at “ensuring smooth, secure and transparent conduct of the highly-sensitive medical entrance test this time.”
Authorities also reportedly said that, “all designated test centres have already been transferred to the NTA’s control, while a three-layer security arrangement will be implemented at every centre to eliminate the possibility of malpractice and maintain the integrity of the examination process.”
It has further been reported that, “the paramilitary personnel will oversee the transportation, storage and protection of question papers and answer sheets, while over 5,000 examination centres across the country will remain under CCTV surveillance supported by extensive deployment of security staff.”
