Industry Odisha Bureau, April 8: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today launched 36 industrial projects worth Rs 40,811 crore, which are expected to generate 59,050 jobs.
Spanning multiple districts, these projects represent a diverse range of high-impact sectors including Green Energy Equipment, Metal & Downstream Industries, Textile & Apparel, Plastics, Tourism, Agro & Food Processing, Defence Manufacturing, IT & ITES, Automobiles, Cement, and Capital Goods, reflecting the State’s rapidly evolving and diversified industrial ecosystem.
Marking a day of twin milestones, the Chief Minister attended two major programmes first at Bhuinpur in Khordha district, followed by the inauguration of a major textile manufacturing facility at Ramdaspur in Cuttack district.
At Bhuinpur, the programme was attended by Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, MP Aparajita Sarangi, MLAs Prashant Jagdev, Pradip Kumar Sahu, along with leading industry representatives and senior officials of the Government of Odisha.
The Chief Minister also chaired a high-level roundtable interaction with industry leaders, focusing on strengthening execution, addressing implementation challenges, and reinforcing Odisha’s investor facilitation framework.
A total of 34 projects were grounded and inaugurated at Bhuinpur, Begunia, Khordha, while 2 key projects were undertaken at Ramdaspur, Cuttack, with the combined events witnessing participation of more than 10,000 people, reflecting strong industry and public engagement.
Addressing a public meeting at Bhuinpur near Begunia in Khurda district, Majhi asserted that Odisha is no longer merely a “state of potential” but is now actively experiencing the touch of prosperity. “This is a new and significant chapter in the golden journey of ‘Samruddha Odisha’,” he said.
Majhi highlighted that in the last 18–20 months, the government has laid foundations and inaugurated 109 projects worth nearly Rs 2.5 lakh crore, creating 1,76,000 jobs.
He highlighted that the State has successfully transitioned from an era of investment announcements to one of on-ground delivery, where projects are monitored in real time and supported through robust institutional mechanisms such as IPICOL at the State level and DIPA at the district level.
He further noted that dedicated task force mechanisms are actively resolving implementation bottlenecks, ensuring that projects move seamlessly from approval to commissioning.
Majhi also underlined the central role of youth in this transformation, stating that every investment is designed to create meaningful employment opportunities within the State. “With sustained investments in skill development through institutions such as the World Skill Centre, ITIs, and technical institutes, Odisha is building a future-ready workforce aligned with industry needs,” he stated.
He reiterated that this growth trajectory contributes not only to the vision of Samruddha Odisha but also aligns with the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047, positioning Odisha as a key driver in India’s manufacturing and economic expansion.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Swain stated that the projects grounded and inaugurated today reflect the State’s commitment to building a diversified, resilient, and future-ready industrial ecosystem.
He emphasized that the Government is focused on aligning industrial growth with skill development under the “Skilled in Odisha” initiative, ensuring that the workforce is equipped to meet the demands of emerging high-value sectors.
Following the Bhuinpur programme, the CM proceeded to Ramdaspur Industrial Area in Cuttack, where he inaugurated the manufacturing facility of Page Industries, marking a major milestone in Odisha’s textile and apparel sector.
The newly inaugurated unit, with an investment of approximately Rs 750 crore, is expected to generate around 5,850 employment opportunities. In addition, the groundwork was laid for a second unit at Chhatabar in Khordha, involving an investment of around Rs 258 crore with employment potential of 3,500 jobs.
Addressing the gathering at Ramdaspur, the Chief Minister highlighted that Odisha is rapidly emerging as a preferred destination for textile and apparel manufacturing, driven by a strong ecosystem encompassing skilled manpower, competitive infrastructure, and progressive policy support.
He noted that the sector holds immense potential for large-scale employment generation, particularly for women and youth, and plays a critical role in fostering inclusive industrial growth in the textile sector.
Senior officials of the State Government, representatives of Page Industries, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
