Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 31: Odisha is fast emerging as a key force in India’s clean energy shift. The state has aligned its strategy with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national clean energy vision. That vision targets 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.
Odisha will showcase its strengths at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026. The four-day event runs from November 2 to 5 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Preparations for the state’s participation have now reached peak momentum. The state will highlight its vast potential, policy incentives and new investment avenues.
Additional Chief Secretary for Energy and E&IT Vishal Dev is leading the drive. The state is scaling up infrastructure to meet a bold rooftop solar target. It aims to bring rooftop solar power to three lakh households by 2027.
Odisha’s policy push is now backed by concrete milestones and national recognition. The state made a clean sweep at the PM Surya Ghar Excellence Awards. The awards were instituted by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Odisha ranked first in several operational categories. These included maximum consumer applications and the highest number of rooftop solar installations. The state also topped the chart for discom inspection efficiency.
Odisha also won the Wind India 2026 recognition for its wind energy framework. The honour acknowledged clear regulatory rules and reduced risks for commercial wind investments. The achievement is credited to the sustained push by ACS Vishal Dev.
Odisha is now expanding its clean energy mix beyond conventional renewables. The state is moving into floating solar, pumped hydro storage and green hydrogen. Union MNRE Secretary Santosh Sarangi is extending active support to this effort.
Together, these achievements signal Odisha’s readiness to lead India’s green energy future. The Odisha Pavilion will be located in Hall 1 at Bharat Mandapam. It will welcome global stakeholders to invest in the state’s growing green economy.
