Industry Odisha Bureau, Aug 8: Central government-run Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) reaffirming its commitment to inclusive growth and infrastructure-led rural development, has entered into a MoU with the district administration, Rayagada, for the construction of rural roads in Muniguda Block.
MCL, under CSR initiative will fund Rs Rs. 10.29 crore to the district administration for construction of eight rural roads with a total length of 10.3 kilometres along with 24 culverts and 2,980 metres of roadside drainage in villages of Muniguda Block.
The project is a part of the Aspirational District Development Plan and aims to strengthen rural connectivity in the remote tribal areas of the district.
The project is expected to benefit around 3,000 people, predominantly belonging to the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), by significantly improving connectivity to schools, healthcare facilities, markets, essential services and government services in the steep and mountainous terrain. The enhanced road infrastructure will also facilitate socio-economic development, improve mobility, and contribute to a better quality of life for the local communities, ensuring safe and durable all-weather connectivity across the region.
Jyotirmay Sinha, General Manager (CSR), MCL and Ashutosh Kulkarni, Collector & District Magistrate, Rayagada inked the MoU to this effect recently.
Through such initiatives, MCL continues to invest in sustainable community infrastructure and inclusive development across Odisha. The project reflects the company’s continued focus on creating durable public assets, improving connectivity in geographically challenging regions, and fostering long-term socio-economic development for vulnerable tribal communities.
